The UK government has signed off on the Hornsea Project Two wind farm

The world's largest offshore wind farm has the wind behind it.

The UK government has signed off on the Hornsea Project Two wind farm, which will cover 185 square miles (480 square kilometres) of the North Sea with 300 wind turbines off the coast of Yorkshire. That's more than twice the size of Liverpool - roughly the size of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Each turbine will stand 276 metres (905 feet) tall - comparable in size to Britain's tallest building, the 72-storey, 310-metre skyscraper the Shard.

According to the company behind the project, Danish power giant Dong Energy, the wind farm will supply 1,800MW of electricity, enough to power 1.6 million UK homes.
